The MC03 smartphone from German manufacturer Punkt has multiple features that set it apart, such as the efuse, the Vault, and independence from the Google ecosystem. Another key feature is the Data Ledger, from AphyOS, and it is a game changer for both privacy and maximizing battery life.
What Is The Data Ledger
The Ledger grants you unprecedented control over the individual privacy settings and background data access of each app on your MC03. Rather than hunt through a list of permissions buried in a settings menu, a long press on any app from the Wild Web will bring up the option to access the Ledger, where two large, simple to use dials control the permission levels.
Data Privacy
The Data Privacy wheel has 5 different privacy settings. The lowest setting gives the app access to all of the permissions it would like, with the highest level, 5, denying all requested permissions.
- All requested permissions allowed.
- Personal data, hardware peripherals, and network permissions allowed
- Requested hardware peripheral and network permissions allowed; personal data permission request denied.
- Requested network permissions allowed; personal data and hardware peripherals permission requests denied.
- All requested permissions denied.
For more granular control of permissions for the app, click "Custom Settings" at the bottom of the screen to pull up a list of all app permissions, where you can enable or disable as you wish.
Carbon Ledger
The Carbon Ledger, which controls how apps run in the background and impact your battery life (as the more background processes run, the faster your battery drains), has 3 settings.
- No Reduction. Background data unrestricted and battery usage unrestricted.
- Limited Reduction. Background data usage allowed but restricted. Battery usage optimized.
- Most Reduction. Background data denied and battery usage restricted.
The MC03 Difference
AphyOS already does a great job managing data protection and battery life. Managing the permission levels of every individual app from the main screen or app drawer, using an easy-to-use dial, is a perfect blend of control and convenience. And the ability to function outside the Google ecosystem means background processes are already minimized compared to most Android smartphones, leading to enhanced battery life.
The Ledger, available only on the MC03, is one of the many varied features that sets this smartphone apart from the pack.

Can Your Phone Be Tracked via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi? How It Actually Works
You probably know you should be wary to connect to a public Wi-Fi network, but did you know that just because you toggle off Wi-Fi, it doesn't necessarily mean your phone's not broadcasting vital info wirelessly. In this article we'll dig into how Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings work on modern smartphones and when you should consider turning them off.
How Apps Are Verified For AphyOS
To maintain an uncompromised mobile ecosystem, the application delivery pipeline for AphyOS operates under a strict, multi-tiered curation framework. Unlike standard mass-market directories that prioritize catalog volume over software integrity, the ecosystem powering AphyOS relies on formal verification criteria to determine how applications are distributed, highlighted, or embedded...
Why AphyOS Rebuilt the Mobile OS Architecture from the Kernel Up
Standard mobile architectures often expose decrypted sandboxed data at the hardware layer via un-audited vendor frameworks. In this op-ed, Petter Neby outlines how AphyOS purifies the smartphone architecture from the initial boot sequence; introducing kernel-level hardware isolation across cameras, microphones, network modems, and screen memory buffers to deliver true enterprise data...
